The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan reigns with responsive torque

The Tiguan trim line features a turbocharged 2.0 four-cylinder that generates 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque that begins at 1,600 rpm. This torque provides the Tiguan with an excellent response, giving you a boost in traffic or other situations when it’s needed. The RAV4 offers a 2.5L four-cylinder that produces 203 horsepower. However, with nearly 40 lb-ft of less torque than the Tiguan, the RAV4 will have a noticeably different response. The RAV4 Hybrid goes further below with 58 lb-ft less torque than the Tiguan.

The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan brings along a unique set of driving modes

Not found on the RAV4, the Tiguan also includes five drive modes for on- and off-road adventures. Important in Canada's winters, Snow Mode adjusts the Tiguan to perform at a lower rpm range so the wheels have less risk of spinning.

On-Road Mode includes submodes - Sport, Eco and Comfort - that optimize handling and other functions. When you need to get off the pavement, Off-Road Mode adjusts the Tiguan to climb and handle better over terrain. When you want even more options, Off-Road Custom refines the throttle, steering, transmission, and more.

The Tiguan also includes features not found in the RAV4. With up to 104 litres of additional cargo space, the Tiguan offers room for more baggage, gear, or whatever else you can fit. Other amenities such as power folding mirrors with mirror memory, auto-leveling headlights, and a tire pressure monitor are available in the Tiguan line, but not included with the RAV4.
